Push Pull Factors:


  •  With Texas becoming part of the United States, many Americans, primarily from the South, moved in search of cheap land and opportunity.
  • Many of the farmers who came from the South brought their slaves.
  • Anglo-Americans came toTexas seeking affordable land.
  •  Mexicans/Tejanos came to Texas to defend and expand their territory
  •  Germans came to Texas seeking political and religious freedom, as well as economic opportunities.
  •  Other European groups were leaving countries facing disease and famine.
  •  Native Texans were forced to leave East Texas and onto reservations in West Texas.
  •  Not all immigrant groups came to Texas for opportunity or freedom.
